Program Description

Event Details

This is a 45 min program with questions and answers afterwards.

During the autumn of 2004, when digital camera technology was in its infancy, Jen Selwa captured her first green aurora borealis.  Just a few weeks later, there was a multi-day G5 storm event and just her second time photographing the aurora.  It was the success of witnessing that experience that has led Jen to multiple pursuits over the previous two decades in search of the elusive "rainbows of the night".

A colorful slideshow from across the state of Michigan at various times and locations with stories behind every journey.  She will also share basic tips on how to find a safe dark sky location and how to capture the aurora with your smartphone with time of questions and answers.

Join and learn more about what has captured the passion behind the hundreds of thousands of our state's residents in recent years that now call themselves "Michigan aurora chasers.
