Resident Cards
Getting a library card is easy and free! You can apply for a card at the Tamarack District Library desk or apply online. A photo ID and proof of local address is required for registration. Your library card provides access to thousands of physical and digital resources, including books, movies, databases, and so much more.
Service Area
The Tamarack District Library service area serves residents of the Cato, Hinton and Pine Townships and the Lakeview Community School District except residents in the Kent District Library and Flat River Community Library. Check the service area map below to see if you are a resident of the Tamarack District Library or a Lakeland Library Member Library.

Parents or legal guardians have the right and the responsibility to restrict the access of their minors to library resources. By signing a minor’s library card, such parent or legal guardian is taking responsibility for said minor’s selection and computer use and shall not hold TDL responsible.
Nonresident Cards
A non-resident card is valid only for in-house materials owned by TDL and e-books available to TDL patrons. Non-residents shall pay an annual non-refundable, non-resident fee. Non-resident cards are valid for 1 year from the date issued.
For more details about library card eligibility and applications, see our Circulation Policy.
Using Your Card
Holds can be placed on items through the online card catalog or the library app. Notification that a hold is ready for pick up will be called or emailed to you based on your account preferences.
Most items automatically renew 2 times if the item is not on hold for another patron (some exceptions apply). The renewal time period is the same as the original checkout (e.g., a book checked out originally for three weeks will renew for three weeks). You can always check due dates by logging into your account or looking at the library app or contacting the library; you will need your library card number.
Materials may be returned during library hours to the indoor dropbox and to the afterhour dropbox located on the southwest side of the building along with any Lakeland Library Member Library. Library of Things items must always be returned to the Tamarack District Library front desk.
See TDL Fees on policies.
If you move, please visit the Front Desk to update your address and contact information
A card is necessary to check out materials from TDL. If the card is lost or stolen, the patron must notify TDL as soon as possible. Lost or stolen cards can be replaced for an administrative fee.
